I have recently developed a passion for yoga but I have a medical condition which causes me to sweat more than a person should sweat (hyperhidrosis) which makes it frustrating to hold poses. Given several types of “hot yoga” towels are made to absorb excess sweat, I decided to give one a try. Below, I will record my initial impressions after two days and then update my review if I am disappointed as it wears/ages etc.The mat arrived with a sticky glue on two sections, thus I am mentally deducting one/half star (you can see from the second picture). I used a steel wool pad and dawn detergent and rubbed/blotted it out. I like the non slip texture because no one wants to get into a warrior pose and have their feet slide apart. I noticed a little bit of extra comfort for my bony knees as the mat adds some slight cushion to my 6mm yoga mats. That was a non-intended benefit I am so happy about, that reversed the half star I deducted for the glue. The pockets provided a reasonable fit without the towel sliding much, if any.As far as performance, I had a good work out. The only down side is that my sweaty/dripping arms and legs are so far beyond what is normal, that I still cannot hold a pose without sliding limbs. In fairness, a towel can only do so much, and it did its job quite well. Because I am evaluating the product, I also poured some water onto the mat to see if it would spread, soak through, or dissipate. It wicked moisture and dried fast.So far, I am giving the mat 5 stars for texture, fit and a kernel of thickness, but I will be watching closely and I will update this review if I have any disappointments.Read more

This yoga towel from Gaiam isn’t your typical terry cloth towel material, rather, it feels like a soft jersey blend. It’s very comfortable and non abrasive against the skin. It’s nicely sewn and is thick and absorbent. The reinforced corner pockets are helpful in keeping the towel in place on your mat, but keep in mind that there was some movement of this towel with yoga poses at the beginning of my workout when the towel was dry. That being said, while using it for hot yoga, I felt it started to stay in place the more the towel became damp with perspiration. If you practice hot yoga you may enjoy the soft absorbent surface this lovely towel provides.I’ve posted some photos and hope that they, along with my experience, helps you out a bit with your choice. Thank you.Read more

…yep, it’s true. I have one mat that is extra long, one that is in the middle, and one that’s on the smaller side. From big to small, they have a difference of 5″. None of them are *exactly* 70″ long. This luxuriously soft yoga towel will only slip around the corners of the smallest mat I own. No big for me, I can still use it with my other mats… it’ll just be hooked on one side only. If this is an issue for you, MEASURE your mat before buying this towel. It washes well. I just wash it on cold and hang to dry. Or, the other day, I just hosed it off on the clothesline and let it air dry.Did I mention it was soft? I have super sensitive skin and have noticed in my hot yoga practice that, when my pores are fully open, especially after I’ve just shaved, wiping with a more traditional towel makes my skin sting. This is so soft that it didn’t sting.I found that it gets more grippy as it gets loaded with your sweat. This makes sense, right? Adhesion (yay science!).Read more

I was happy to try and review this Gaiam product as typically Gaiam is just a very good brand. This yoga tool was certainly welcome as yoga (and other floor mat activities) generate a lot perspiration and require lots of wiping up and this is more the case as working out at home is a larger priority these days as well. The towel first off has a nice feel to it. The towel is a good size and has nice pockets on the corners to place over the yoga mat (or exercise mat) to keep it in place, though for the guys like me that use a extra large mat, this will only work on to corners. That being said, the mat is quite absorbent and works well. It is nice quality and appears to be well made as well.Read more

My biggest issue I’ve had trying to get back into yoga is that I sweat. A lot. And most poses either had me sliding around, or laying uncomfortably on a now-sticky sweaty mat that was a bear to clean afterwards. With this yoga towel, it absorbs really well, and it stays put on my yoga mat (I like the corner pockets) without shifting around. I have used this now consistently for about a week, and have washed it 3 times (it’s in the wash for the 4th now) and have seen no issues with durability. I gave it a 5 for warmth because I’m guessing it’ll be nice in the winter based on the feel, but it’s also nice here in the summer now, as it’s not something that makes you feel warmer. I definitely like, and recommend, this yoga towel.Read more

I’ve been happy with the Gaiam yoga products I have used. This one is also good quality and works well for yoga. It is a pretty color of blue with some striations running through it. It protects my mat from sweat, making it less slippery if I am working hard and drip onto it.The underside of the towel has some lips that fit over the corners of the mat to keep the towel in place during yoga. They fit well along the short side of the mat, but the towel is about three inches too short for the length of my 70 inch mat. I would prefer it to fit all around, but it works alright as is. The towel washes well and keeps its softness. I hang it dry and it is ready to use again by the next morning.Read more

I am a beginner yogi. I use a Gaiam mat. I was finding that after about 30 min of doing yoga I would start to get sweaty and my feet was starting to slip. I wanted to try this towel to see if it would help. There are pockets on the bottom side of each corner to slip on the mat. It was tough at first to get the towel to stay since one of the ends of the mat rolls up a little. Once I got it on, it stayed put through the 45 min yoga session. Although I prefer the feeling of the actual mat versus the towel, it did help me from not slipping in the later part of the session. The towel is smooth and soft kind of like a t shirt.Read more
