Having never used water dumbells before I had no idea what I was doing. I have, however, used Theraband products and have found them to be very high quality. I have not been disappointed with these. Our pool has the light (red) ones for use as well as another brand. This medium (green) resistance is perfect for me and I see myself going up to the heavier resistance in the future. I have no idea how to tell you how challenging you’ll find them….I’m 61 and have been lifting weights for years so I’m not a complete novice. But water weights – a whole different animal. These dry out quickly but you can expect some residual drops if you take them home straight from the pool. Read more

I was unsure of what size to buy, so I read quite a few of the Amazon reviews. I have begun going to an aqua exercise class at a health club and wanted to have my own set of aquatic dumbbells because occasionally the ones I wanted to use were all taken. I debated between the small and the medium as I wanted to have some challenge, but not so much that I would be discouraged. It might help to know that I am a “seasoned citizen” and taking these classes to help recover from a pinched nerve. I settled on the medium (green) ones, and am quite satisfied. Although I do get a workout, it is not to the point of having aching muscles later in the day. Read more

This is an okay workout dumbbell. It doesn’t warrant the $30 price. I have an old set that works the same $13 bucks. Again they work the same as the cheaper one. Still an okay work out aquatic dumbbell Read more

I have recently put in a pool, not necessarily just for fun. Recently was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. This causes severe pain in hip and knee joints with exercise on hard surfaces. Unfortunately, a sedentary lifestyle also causes problems for the painful joints with weight gain. I heard aquatic exercise was the low-impact way to get moving with no pain. These water dumbbells took a little getting used to as you try to sink them instead of lifting like regular weights, but once I got the hang of it, I found many different exercises that could be done with no impact on my joints. I would recommend this product to anyone suffering from medical conditions requiring aquatic low impact exercising. Read more

We bought these about 2 years ago and liked them for the first summer. Last summer, however, the foam suddenly started falling apart in little pieces….in the pool and everywhere we set them. Really a mess, so I won’t buy again. We’d used them outdoors for about 45 minutes (between the two of us) a day for about 3 months of hot summer, and stored them in the shade on the patio while using and in our garage the rest of the year. Kept them out of direct sunlight unless using, but the patio and garage did get hot. Read more

I bought these because my old set had issues with end pieces coming off. I opened my pool late so I can’t return it. This set keeps coming off on ends right away in water. Not cheap and a total waste of money. Read more

These have been in the pool a dozen times or so for at least an hour unlike some reviews of them holding water or comming apart I have not had any problem including those. I have put them through there pace’s I am hard on them I’m in the pool to exersize not to be gentle with what I am using to work out with they are just like the day I took them out of the box. I am very happy with my purchase the only thing I am sorry about is that I did not buy them sooner this summer. Read more

Have used this kind of hand weight for years, though this is my first pair by Thera-Band. What is essential for me is the generous padding on the hand rest; the models available in sporting goods stores generally have thinly padded, narrow diameter handles which I find challenging. So far, so good – I decided to try them since a few people in my aqua-aerobics group seemed pleased with theirs. Read more
